The day is structured with three 100 minute blocks of instructional time with two recess

breaks in between.

Each block of 100 minutes has a literacy focus for a division.

The primary literacy block is 9:00—10:40.

The junior (gr. 4—6) literacy block is 11:00—12:40.

The intermediate (gr. 7—8) literacy block is 1:40—3:20. The intermediate timetable has

been adjusted to include a focused rotary block from 9:20—10:40 each day. During this

time grade 7 & 8 students will focus intensively on only two subjects for three week

blocks of time (science, geography, history, drama, health, art).

The purpose of this restructuring is to reduce the number of subjects that the students must attend to at one time. We anticipate better homework completion and higher quality efforts on culminating unit activities.
